I just realized:
My last post was my 100th post.
Today is 11/11/11.
I'm motivated.
You see, I saw a show tonight: the musical "Edges" by Pasek & Paul.
A simple show, really. Just a song cycle. No words. Just lyrics and music.
And I thought to myself, why? Why am I not finishing the show I set out to write 2 years ago this month?
And so I am.
Tonight, I set out a tentative song & topic list. At this point, I have my decisions to make.
Am I going to make this show basically a song cycle? Is it going to be episodic songs/scenes more like "ILYYPNC"? Or will it have a legitimate script and storyline?
At this point, I'm leaning towards multiple storylines that intertwine. So, vignettes of a nonlinear story in a way? Like, the layout of the book "Holes" by Louis Sachar. Anyway, we'll see where the writing takes me.
I think enough of the topics hit close enough to home it won't be hard to get words on paper. In fact, I still keep thinking of little things I want to add here and there. Monologues, songs, etc.
I have a feeling that a lot of my life is going to be reflected in this show. After all, they say write what you know... right?
