01.06.11: New Year, New Life to Live

It made me really excited the other day to be able to go through all my posts from the past year and really see how much has changed in the past 12 months.

I remember being so small and getting *so* excited about holidays... and now... let's just say, it's nice to see the family for a couple days and get a break from work. Other than that, a lot of the excitement has really gone. So, it's back to the grind for me, and my new job.

Oh wait, I didn't tell you I had a new job? Well, sort of. (New responsibilities at least! And a raise! Does this at least give me cause for getting the business cards from MOO that I've been lusting over for months? haha!)

Continuing, I am happily in a relationship with someone who could quite possibly be *the* man of my dreams... too late. He's already there. ;) I don't want to delve into this too much considering how news of my little blog has leaked out to some people (I mean, really, before this summer, who *actually* ever read this schtuff I was spilling?). Anyway, I love him, and adore him, and in ever way feel he is my compliment. I haven't felt that in a *very* long time. It's nice.

Let's see... what else....

Well, I know I may have mentioned this a bit, but I'm living with one of my absolute BEST friends of all time. And I must say, I am pleasantly surprised at how well we live together. Sure, I'm guessing there's little things I do that might bug her every now and then, and likewise, but we're so close that we look past the petty differences and compromise. We care about one another and take an interest in each other's lives. We don't bicker, don't act childishly when one of us doesn't get our way, and try to genuinely make our home as loving and harmonious as possible. As utopian as that might sound, it's true. I really do like living with Christine and am excited for the next months to come!

OH! And I absolutely *MUST* mention the contest! I happened upon a tweet/facebook post from YouTube right before Christmas announcing a reminder it was the final hours to submit a video for a contest promoting GoogleTV. I had a few ideas swimming in my head almost immediately, and after some chatting with Matt and personal "soul searching" (haha!), I had my idea! I filmed the video that evening, took an early dinner, edited, uploaded and submitted that night! Lo and behold, a few weeks later, I get a message from the contest telling me I'm either one of the winners or alternates! I'm so excited! The prize for being one of the 100 winners is a 46" Sony Flat-screen HDTV already equipped with GoogleTV! Winners are announced the 20th, so I'll keep you updated!

Umm.... Anything else...

Well, being the New Year, I decided to jump on the bandwagon... well, not technically. I knew Matt was revamping his New Year's Resolutions, so I basically just decided to do it with him! haha... In no particular order, here are mine!

1.) Improve health through eating more nutritious option and exercising (even in small amounts!) on a regular basis.

2.) Build a new solid skill set at work in communications, marketing, volunteer management, event planning, and program management & evaluation.

3.) Don't work *TOO* hard. Take one big vacation every 2 months and a little one every other month. (Even if it's just a day trip!)

4.) Find and secure a job that pays at least 30K a year or at least $15/hr full-time.

5.) Tell someone that you love them every day.

6.) Cut my hair and donate it to a new organization. In the course of this, try a new hairstyle!

7.) Seriously consider and work towards moving to the same time zone as Matt.

8.) Make a valiant and honest effort to keep not only the public areas of my house clean, but also make the time to at least tidy up in my room once a week.

9.) Better my editing skills by expanding my knowledge of FCP and exploring live type and after effects.

10.) Blog at least twice a month and try not to be *TOO* cryptic. Haha!

11.) Take a little time every day to take care of myself and work on my relationship with the love of my life!

Whew! Also, I was really excited that Matt and I sat down and made a list of resolutions for US as a couple! It really gives me hope that this is a relationship that will last. I've done so much reading and research about the stages of relationships, and particularly at this point we're in affectionately referred to as the "Honeymoon Stage." However, all signs seem to be pointing to us doing what we need to do to make this a pairing that sticks. I understand that as of right now, we're still in a really awkward place. Living, what? 3-4 states away from each other isn't exactly ideal for getting to know each other. But, I think that both of us fully and completely recognize just how important we are to each other and that this arrangement is only temporary. If we can get through our first few months and heaven-forbid our first year or so apart, then I'd really like to see what the world could throw at us that would tear us apart.

On the bright side, we are making the effort to keep in pretty much constant contact with one another, and are finding ways to visit each other as often as possible. I'm quite excited for next week, and especially for February when I get to meet the rest of his family!

Alright, I feel like I've gushed enough.

You know, it's really nice to be able to begin the year out on such a positive note. There actually were a few negative things I was going to mention, but you know what? I'll just save them for later. For now, I'm ending with a smile on my face and I hope on yours.

I LOVE YOU!
